Why I’m hiking the CDT, and format changes

Hey Folks!

I’d like to make a quick announcement about how I’ll be running my blog this hiking season. I had mentioned in my last post that I’ll be a contributing blogger for a website called “The Trek” (www.thetrek.co). It may take me a little bit of time to figure out the juggling act between this blog and the content that I write for The Trek, but for the time being, I’ll be reposting the links to my articles at The Trek here at tingohikes. This seems to be the easiest solution for me to keep my readers here updated without making them go and resubscribe to a different location.

That being said, you can find my blogger page at The Trek at: www.thetrek.co/author/alpine-p-tingo

You can feel free to subscribe directly to my page at The Trek, too. That’s where I’ll plan on posting the narrative and insights of my hike, while still reposting here.

From time to time, I may also post content here that might not fit The Trek’s usual format, so continuing to check tingohikes will occasionally afford you some bonus content!

I’ve just recently published my first post, which can be found here: https://thetrek.co/continental-divide-trail/introductions-and-why-im-hiking-the-cdt-in-2026/

Whether you want to follow here or at The Trek, I’m just happy to keep people informed about, and hopefully inspired by this next adventure.

Hayward Library Fundraiser

I’m happy to say that our fundraiser for the Hayward library is going great, and we are well on our way to hitting our $5,000 goal! My good buddy Clothesline and I were thankful to the Whistle Punk in Stone Lake for allowing us to host a sendoff party this last Thursday, at which we raised over $1,200 for the library and library nature park. Thanks to all those who attended!

Clothesline and Alpine!

As I have stated before, you can feel free to donate to our library fundraiser by pledging in person at the Sherman and Ruth Weiss Community Library, or Backroads Coffee in Hayward, WI, or by visiting:

That’s all for now, folks! I’ll be busily preparing to start the CDT on April 15th! Thanks for bearing with me on the format change, and I’ll update y’all later!

Mt. Katahdin, to remind me that all journeys are possible with a bit of determination!
