Hey Folks!
It’s been a bit since I’ve posted, but I have some exciting news! This season, I’ll be taking on the Continental Divide Trail (CDT). Some background for folks that may be unfamiliar with the trail, the CDT runs from Mexico to Canada through five states: New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. It runs roughly 3,000 miles (“roughly” because there are alternate routes), and follows – you guessed it – the geological continental divide, which is the line of separation where water runs either west to the Pacific, or east to the Atlantic.

There will be plenty more details to come, but I intend to start mid-April. Also, as a disclaimer, I’ll also be a contributing blogger writing for popular backpacking website thetrek.co. More to come on that as well.
Finally, I wanted to proudly announce that my good buddy Clothesline, who I hiked the Wisconsin section of the North Country Trail with last September, will be taking on his first thru hike of the Ice Age Trail! Together, we are running a fundraiser for the benefit of the Sherman & Ruth Weiss Hayward Community Library! Primarily, any and all funds that we raise will be for the benefit of the Hayward Library and Nature Park – an excellent park and trail system behind the library that is a healthy and educational asset to the Hayward, WI community.
Donations can be made either on a “per mile” basis, or as a flat donation. Between our two trails, there are up to 4,300 miles, so on a per mile basis, for example, if you pledged a penny per mile, it would amount to $43.
Donations can be made online at https://givebutter.com/hikefundraiser, or, for those local to the Hayward area, you can donate by paper pledge at either the Sherman & Ruth Weiss Community Library, or at Backroads Coffee!

Also, for those local to the Hayward, WI area, in support of this fundraiser, the Whistle Punk coffee shop has graciously allowed us to host a send off party this Thursday, April 2nd. The event will feature a short presentation, as well as a chance to win beer, cheese, and more by answering trivia questions through the evening! We hope to see some of y’all there!

Alright, that’s it for now! I’ll be excited to post more as things get under way!
